Nidec signed an agreement on 1 October 2026 to sell its wholly owned subsidiary Nidec Components to a Carlyle-backed company for ¥102.98bn (about $650m).
Why Carlyle is buying Nidec Components
Nidec is streamlining to protect its core electric-motor business and shore up its finances after an accounting scandal led to large impairment charges.
Deal terms and financing
The share transfer price is ¥102.98bn and completion is scheduled for 1 December 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
Market context
The deal followed Nikkei reports of final-stage talks on 29-30 September, the same day Nidec's chief executive Mitsuya Kishida resigned and the company reported a full-year net loss of about ¥565bn after impairments. Nidec Components began as Copal Electronics and became wholly owned in 2014.
