Strides Pharma Science agreed on 17 March to acquire and in-license a portfolio of Sandoz's branded generic medicines across Sub-Saharan Africa for an initial US$12m.
Why Strides Pharma Science Limited (via Strides Pharma International AG) is buying Sandoz branded generics portfolio in Sub-Saharan Africa
Strides said the combined portfolio would make it one of the top five pharmaceutical companies in Sub-Saharan Africa by sales, add brands with strong prescriber recognition, open cross-selling opportunities and give deeper access to pharmacies, clinics and hospitals. Several products individually sell more than US$1m a year.
Deal terms and financing
Some products are acquired outright and others will be marketed by Strides on Sandoz's behalf. The US$12m initial consideration is payable at closing and funded from internal accruals; Strides expects the deal to be accretive to earnings per share.
Regulatory approvals and timing
Closing was expected by the end of the quarter to 30 September 2026, subject to customary conditions including regulatory and antitrust approvals (Strides release, 17 March 2026); no completion was found in the sources reviewed.
Market context
The agreement covers a West African cluster of ten countries, which the company release labelled Western Sahara, plus Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya.
