Why PayPal Holdings, Inc. is buying Cymbio

PayPal had already partnered with Cymbio within its agentic commerce services. Cymbio's team and technology will enable Store Sync, which makes merchants' product data discoverable within AI channels and drops orders into their existing fulfilment and management systems, with merchants remaining the merchant of record.

“Acquiring Cymbio's technology and team will enhance our agentic commerce capabilities and accelerate the expansion to more of our merchants.”Michelle Gill, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Small Business and Financial Services, PayPal

Deal terms and financing

Deal terms were not disclosed. The transaction was expected to close in the first half of 2026, subject to customary conditions.

Regulatory approvals and timing

PayPal's newsroom notes that it completed the acquisition of Cymbio on 5 February 2026.

Market context

PayPal's agentic commerce services are available on Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity, with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini app and AI Mode described as coming soon. Merchants live with Store Sync include Abercrombie & Fitch, Fabletics, Ashley Furniture, Newegg and Adorama. Cymbio was founded in 2015.
