EFG International said on 26 January 2026 that it had agreed to acquire 100% of Quilvest (Switzerland), a Zurich-based private bank founded in 1932 by the Argentine Bemberg family.
Why EFG International AG is buying Quilvest (Switzerland) Ltd
The deal adds a pure-play Swiss private bank focused on ultra-high net worth individuals, with clients mainly in Latin America, Western Europe including Switzerland, and the Middle East. Quilvest Switzerland, which also operates in Montevideo, Uruguay, will operate under EFG Bank after closing.
“We look forward to our future partnership with the Bemberg family”
Deal terms and financing
EFG is paying cash for all the shares and did not disclose the price. It expected the purchase to reduce its CET1 capital ratio by a maximum of about 70 basis points.
Regulatory approvals and timing
Closing was expected in the third quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approval. EFG completed the acquisition on 21 July 2026, according to finews, taking its assets under management above CHF200bn.
Market context
Quilvest Switzerland had about CHF5.3bn of client assets, of which CHF3.9bn were assets under management and CHF1.4bn assets under custody; more than 90% of AuM came from ultra-high and high net worth clients.
