Cognex announced on 22 September a definitive agreement to acquire RealSense, a Cupertino-based maker of depth-sensing cameras, for $500m in cash.
Market context
RealSense was founded inside Intel in 2014 and spun out in 2025; it expects $80m-$90m of revenue in 2026, up more than 50%. The purchase reflects a broader rush by industrial-tech firms to supply perception hardware for humanoid and mobile robots; closing is targeted for the fourth quarter.
