French software makers Cegid and Silae said on Sept 9 they plan to merge, creating a group with an enterprise value above EUR10bn. Silver Lake, majority owner of both, will keep a majority stake.
Why Cegid is buying Silae
The combined group will run accounting, tax, finance and payroll tools for about 2 million end customers and more than 15,000 accountancy firms, giving it scale against global rivals.
Regulatory approvals and timing
Closing is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to consultation with employee bodies and regulatory approval.
Market context
Christian Pedersen has been named CEO. Cegid recently bought business-banking platform Shine.
