A Warburg Pincus-led investor group agreed on 13 July to acquire a controlling interest in PANTHERx Rare, the largest independent rare-disease pharmacy in the United States.
Why Warburg Pincus-led investor group is buying PANTHERx Rare
Warburg said the investment would fund people, capabilities and technology so PANTHERx can serve more rare-disease patients while keeping its independent, patient-first and manufacturer-aligned model.
Deal terms and financing
The group is buying from Nautic Partners, General Atlantic and The Vistria Group; Nautic and management will remain significant shareholders. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The companies expect to close in the coming months, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.
Market context
PANTHERx was founded in a Pittsburgh garage in 2011. Private Equity Wire reported, citing the Wall Street Journal, that the deal was valued at more than $7bn including debt.
