Superloop signed a binding agreement on 18 February to acquire Lynham Networks, the parent company of Lightning Broadband, for A$165m in cash.
Why Superloop Limited is buying Lynham Networks Pty Ltd (Lightning Broadband)
Superloop said the purchase would add Lightning Broadband's open-access wholesale fibre-to-the-premises network and its retail broadband operations, which had about 14,000 active services, to its Smart Communities division. Chief executive Paul Tyler said the deal accelerated Superloop's ambitions as a national fibre-to-the-premises challenger.
Deal terms and financing
The price is payable in cash from existing cash and debt facilities, with leverage expected to remain low at about 1.4 times EBITDA. Superloop shares rose 18% on the day of the announcement, which accompanied first-half results showing underlying EBITDA up 46% to A$55.8m, according to ChannelNews.
Regulatory approvals and timing
Completion was subject to regulatory approvals and was expected in the fourth quarter of Superloop's 2026 financial year. Superloop announced on 29 May 2026 that it had completed the acquisition; Lynham's network serves more than 400 multi-dwelling and single-dwelling developments and holds Statutory Infrastructure Provider status.
