KKR agreed to buy Medicover's Indian hospital business in a deal that values the 24-hospital chain at €1.2bn, Medicover announced on 6 August.
Why KKR is buying Medicover Hospitals India
Medicover said the sale strengthens its finances and lets it accelerate its strategy in Poland, Germany and Romania, leaving a more focused health, medical care and diagnostics business. KKR is adding a multi-specialty hospital platform in South and West India to its healthcare investments.
Deal terms and financing
KKR funds are buying 100% of Medicover Hospitals India. Medicover, which owns 66.1%, expects gross cash proceeds of about €740m; the remaining 33.9% belongs to minority shareholders who are also selling. Medicover's financial targets are unchanged until completion.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The deal is subject to customary competition and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Market context
Established in 2017, Medicover India runs 24 hospitals with about 4,800 beds and offers more than 80 clinical specialties.
