EDF has agreed to sell Hynamics, its low-carbon hydrogen subsidiary, to Hy24, the hydrogen infrastructure manager jointly controlled by Ardian and FiveT Hydrogen, the French utility said on 14 October. The price was not disclosed.
Why Hy24 (Clean Hydrogen Infrastructure fund) is buying Hynamics (from EDF Pulse Ventures)
EDF said the deal is intended to help create a French and British champion in low-carbon hydrogen, and fits EDF Pulse Ventures' strategy of passing holdings to shareholders with the resources to develop them. Teleborsa, citing Bloomberg, said EDF is prioritising investment in nuclear reactors.
Regulatory approvals and timing
Completion could take place in the first quarter of 2027, subject to conditions precedent including regulatory approvals.
Market context
Hynamics was created in 2019 to produce and sell low-carbon hydrogen for heavy transport and industry. Hynamics UK and Hy24 signed a memorandum of understanding in July 2025 on the Fawley green hydrogen project.
