Energy Capital Partners agreed on 6 April to acquire EnergySolutions, a provider of services across the nuclear fuel lifecycle, from TriArtisan Capital Advisors, returning the business to the investor that owned it until 2022.
Why Energy Capital Partners (ECP) is buying EnergySolutions
ECP partner Drew Brown said the firm saw tremendous potential for the platform as nuclear power's role in meeting demand for reliable baseload electricity grows. The announcement cited reactor licence extensions, restarts of shuttered plants and an emerging new-build market as drivers of demand for waste management and nuclear services.
Deal terms and financing
Financial terms were not disclosed. Private Equity Wire reported, citing Bloomberg, that the deal was valued at about US$2bn.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and was expected to close in 2026; no completion announcement was found in the sources reviewed by October 2026.
Market context
EnergySolutions operates in the US, Canada, Asia and Europe, serving the US and Canadian governments, commercial nuclear generators, national laboratories and medical institutions. ECP, founded in 2005 and based in Summit, New Jersey, is the infrastructure investment platform of London-listed Bridgepoint Group.
