Berkshire Hathaway agreed on 31 May 2026 to acquire Taylor Morrison Home Corporation for $72.50 a share in cash, giving the homebuilder an enterprise value of about $8.5bn.
Why Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is buying Taylor Morrison Home Corporation
Greg Abel said Berkshire was buying a best-in-class national homebuilder and planned, over time, to unify its site-built homebuilding operations into one platform alongside Clayton Homes. Taylor Morrison chief executive Sheryl Palmer said Berkshire's long-term approach suited homebuilding's multi-year investment cycle.
“Berkshire is acquiring a best-in-class national homebuilder, led by an exceptional team and backed by a trusted reputation for customer experience.”
Deal terms and financing
The all-cash price is a 24% premium to Taylor Morrison's close of $58.50 on 29 May and implies an equity value of about $6.8bn. Taylor Morrison's management team stays in place.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The deal needed Taylor Morrison shareholder approval and regulatory clearances. Berkshire completed the purchase on 24 July 2026, and the business is being integrated with Clayton Properties Group's builders, which together closed about 23,000 site-built homes in 2025.
