Why Autodesk, Inc. is buying MaintainX

Autodesk said the acquisition supports its plan to connect design, make and operate workflows in one lifecycle. MaintainX gives it day-to-day data on asset history, inspections and maintenance patterns, which Autodesk believes will support higher-value AI and lengthen its relationships with customers' assets from years to decades.

Deal terms and financing

Autodesk paid cash, funded from its balance sheet and debt. MaintainX expected annualised recurring revenue of more than $135m in calendar 2026, growing by more than 50%, and joined the newly created Autodesk Operations Solutions division.

Regulatory approvals and timing

The deal was subject to regulatory reviews and was expected to close later in Autodesk's fiscal year; it completed on 3 August 2026.

Market context

Analysts at Verdantix said the key question for MaintainX customers is whether Autodesk folds it into a broader platform, as it did with PlanGrid, or keeps it as a distinct product.
