Why AirTrunk (Blackstone and CPP Investments) is buying Lumina CloudInfra

AirTrunk chief executive Robin Khuda said India was one of the largest and fastest-growing markets for hyperscale and AI infrastructure. Blackstone said the combination reinforced digital infrastructure as one of its highest-conviction themes.

Deal terms and financing

Financial terms were not disclosed. Both companies are controlled by Blackstone-managed funds; Blackstone and CPP Investments acquired AirTrunk in 2024 and will continue to provide long-term capital to the enlarged platform.

Market context

Lumina was launched in 2022 as Blackstone's first wholly owned data centre platform in Asia and began building its first hyperscale campus in Navi Mumbai the following year. After the deal AirTrunk will have more than 3GW of operating and planned capacity across 20 campuses in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and India.
